FAQ

For an open-party trip, tickets are sold inpidually. On a charter trip, the entire boat (including crew) is rented for the day. Charter trips can accommodate any number of passengers up to the boats maximum at one cost. Ticket and charter prices are available on the website; prices vary according to season and type of trip.

Tackle is available for purchase in the landing. Tackle packs are offered (price may vary) in the landing with suggested tackle at the time of your departure.

Rental rods are available upon check-in on a first-come, first-served basis.
One Day – 1.5 Day Rental Rod $20.00
2 Day+ Rental Rod $30.00

Our friendly deckhands are available to assist passengers with setting up your tackle, baiting your hooks and will help you catch and land your fish.

At the end of the trip, you may take your fish home whole in the burlap sack or you may have our deckhands clean your fish. Fish-cleaning is an additional cost of $1-3 per fish based on the size of the fish (very large fish are $5) and you will take your fish fillets home in a plastic bag.

It is recommended you bring a cooler to leave in your vehicle to transport your fish home if you have to travel a longer distance. If you do not want to keep your fish, please let the deckhands know ahead of time and they can assist you with catch-and-release.

A minimum of 10 passengers is needed for an open-party trip. If the minimum is not met, a trip may be cancelled. Refunds, credits or rescheduling is offered upon trip cancellation IF trip is cancelled by landing or boat. All passengers are called prior to trip for a courtesy call whether trip is going or getting cancelled.

Weather can range from sunny and hot to cold and windy with rough seas. Weather conditions can change quickly. The captain reserves the right to cancel trips due to rough weather for safety reasons. Weather conditions on land are not the same as they are out on the water. The landnding will try their best to give the most notice about trip cancellation. Passengers will be given the option to recieve a refund, credit or reschedule theit trip if trip is cancelled by landing/boat.

Seasickness can occur, even in calm weather conditions. If you are prone to seasickness or you are new to fishing, we suggest that you bring seasickness medication. Most guests don’t require medication, but if you’re concerned about this, please consult your physician. If you do not know if you get seasick, we recommend that you consider taking seasickness medication. We are not able to return to the dock to drop off passengers who are seasick.

No refunds unless cancelation due to weather related conditions. Reservations may be rescheduled 2 days prior to trip. If you are not ready to reschedule your trip a credit will be offered. No Shows will NOT receive refund. We reserve the right to substitute another boat for any trip.

Gratuity is not included in the ticket price. The crew works very hard to make your trip easy and enjoyable; gratuities are always very much appreciated.

We recommend layers as weather is not the same out on the water as it is on land. A waterproof jacket, warm sweater and water repellant boots are a must have on most days.

Closed toe shoes are highly recommended to protect your feet. If you are not wearing water repellant shoes/boots, please be aware shoes will more than likely get wet!

A backpack to store personal items like keys, wallet, phone, and extra clothes.

A strong plastic ziplock bag is also recommended for your phone, just to be extra safe.

Keep in mind you’re on the ocean, so if something can get wet it’s generally a good idea to have a spare.

We recommend sunblock, hat and sunglasses.

There is a chance your clothes may get fishy, please don’t wear anything that you don’t mind getting dirty!

Fishing generates quite an appetite. Being exposed to cold air and weather tends to burn lots of calories, and as a result you’ll find you want to eat heartily. Our boats have galleys where we can cook for everyone on the boat. You are more than welcome to bring your own food and drink aboard, please limit it to a “sack” style lunch. Passengers are not allowed to bring alcohol on board. NO ICE CHESTS OR COOLERS ALLOWED, space is limited.

Check in begins one hour prior to departure inside the Ventura Harbor Sportfishing landing. Passengers who do not have a reservation can purchase a ticket with cash or credit card if space available.

PLEASE BE AWARE: Check-in must be done PRIOR to boat departure time. Boats will not wait for passengers arriving after departure time. All passengers that arrive after departure time are considered a no-show and will not qialify for a refund or credit.

Fishing Licenses are required by everyone 16 and above.

We are a California Fish and Wildlife License Dealer.

If you already have a year license, please be aware an ocean enhancement is required. If you do not have that you will need to purchase.

We do not have an official age minimum, as we believe that parents know their children best so we do leave this decision up to them. Please be aware, we do not turn around for seasick passengers. We want our passengers, especially the kids, to enjoy their experience and come back to fish with us again!

Please ask a landing employee where you are supposed to park for the boat you are on.
